“I’ve had 100 job interviews to find my ideal job.”

At the very beginning of our project, we asked eight people we already knew to be beta testers. Our first Canvas was very far from the clean and polished version of today, and we were mainly curious to understand if a tool would have been enough to clarify what to do when you are a Manager Assistant and outside the corporate environment you find yourself overqualified but at the same time less specialised.

Multi-potential people find it difficult to choose just one career or interest, and to add an extra layer of challenge, add the age of +40 and maybe a newborn child. This is rarely the ideal situation for a company to hire.

Imagine what the situation was like in 2017 and before the pandemic, which at least encouraged remote working opportunities. Similarly, issues such as health problems can arise without asking permission when it’s less convenient to have a break in your working life. Sh*t happens, and it can be useful to have a plan B in case the unexpected happens.

Speaking of unprecedented situations, in 2020, during the pandemic, we started training Office Support Professionals on more technical and project-oriented topics, and we met Chiara, who was working for an association at the time: she was eager to learn new things, to connect with other assistants and to find new challenges, as her rather boring job was not exciting at all.

Although she was very smart and brilliant, she had no examples to follow to inspire her to find a more interesting job, as she was told that “a job is just a job”.

She then defined her strategy and changed her job. We didn’t know that she had rejected 100 employers before she found the job that suited her.

Needless to say, she was hired as a beta tester, and after completing her journey with us, she blossomed.

Watch the interview and hear her story.
